Lightweight Speed

Some might say aero doesn’t matter on a gravel bike, but if you’ve battled a headwind across an open prairie, the thirty-two grams of drag you’ll save with the Áspero-5 come as a welcome respite. Most gravel racing is done without the benefit of a World Tour peloton—or World Tour tactics—and when it’s your nose in the wind all day, it’s nice to know your bike’s shouldering a bit of the load.

Two-position adjustment

“Trail” - Front wheel response to rider input - is the most critical factor in high-velocity handling. The ability to adjust trail with the two-position "Trail Mixer" to compensate for the extreme range of tire sizes ensures a uniform ride experience.

Multiple Configurations

We engineered the bike to fit most 700x42 or 650x49 tire/wheel combos, comfortably. Of course, there are variables - rim width, tire casing/tread depth - which will affect final clearance. IMPORTANT NOTE - We always recommend there to be 4mm of clearance around whichever tire/wheel combo is installed on the bike.

Versatility

Vibration-damping, carbon seat post we’ve used to great effect on the R5 and Caledonia-5, clever split-spacers under the stem so you don’t have to re-cable your bike to adjust your fit, and our new flared handlebar.

Engineering Fundamentals

How do we push innovation further with every frame? At Cervélo we believe there are five distinct factors that can be looked at when it comes to improving a bike, and each is carefully considered by our engineering team as they develop new models.

Ride Quality

Cervélo's approach to ride quality focusses on the rider's experience. We define ride quality as the feeling of the bike being appropriate for its intended use.

Aerodynamics

Aerodynamics is at the very core of what we do at Cervélo. The company was founded with the goal of making cyclists faster, and using aerodynamics is the best way to achieve that goal.

Weight

A carbon bike frame layup is made by placing hundreds of individually cut plies of carbon in a mold in a certain order and orientation. The more precisely these plies are cut, the lighter the frame, as less material is used to achieve the desired strength and reliability.

Stiffness

The stiffness of your bike has a big impact on your ride experience. Cervélo has spent years researching and testing these different types of stiffness to create the best possible riding experience for you.

Usability

Cervélo values standard components and intuitive adjustments, all of which make our bikes simple to own and easy to enjoy.
